Communication is often one of the most overlooked yet transformative aspects of emotional wellbeing. In my clinical experience, the capacity to articulate thoughts, feelings, and lived experience with honesty can play a central role in psychological healing. Within a confidential and supportive therapeutic space, I work collaboratively with clients to deepen self-understanding, strengthen emotional resilience, and develop coping strategies tailored to individual needs. Where appropriate, we may also explore meaningful shifts in patterns, relationships, environment, and behaviour.

I work from a strong foundation of respect for autonomy, self-determination, and the client’s own capacity for growth. Whilst acceptance and clarity can feel complex to reach alone, a consistent, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship can provide the conditions in which greater insight, self-awareness, and psychological integration can emerge.

My clinical experience includes working with complex mental health issues, relationship difficulties, trauma-related issues, depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders and low self confidence/esteem.

In addition to individual psychotherapy, I have specialist training in couples counselling and work with couples and families to support more effective communication, deeper relational understanding, and more secure emotional connection.

As a qualified person-centred supervisor, I provide clinical supervision to both qualified practitioners and trainees. My supervision practice is collaborative, reflective, and ethically grounded, offering a structured yet supportive environment in which to engage with clinical material, professional development, and ongoing self reflection.

I offer sessions from private practices in Richmond, London, and Hampshire, alongside secure online therapy for clients across the UK. To enquire further or arrange an initial appointment, please contact me via email:

People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.

Why Choose Us

Counselling

What is counselling?

Counselling is a relationship where you and your counsellor work together to help you understand how you're feeling, why you're feeling that way, and how you can feel better. Sometimes it's about gaining more of an understanding or acceptance of difficult or traumatic situations you have been through, sometimes it's about finding out more about yourself. Research has shown time and time again that the most important variable in successful counselling is feeling that there is the possibility of change in your life, at least an openness to this possibility. There is some neuroscience around how receiving caring empathic understanding from someone else helps our own internal experience of self-understanding and self-acceptance, as well as the more informal experience we all might have had of being able to express ourselves honestly and openly without having to worry about how the person we're talking to is feeling. At Thought Therapy, we believe that you are the expert on your own experience and struggles. We don't pretend to know better how to resolve things, but we absolutely trust you to be able to work things out in your own way. All clients are unique individuals, and that means we work uniquely with all of them to find and agree the best way of being helpful. How much counselling will I need? It’s not usually possible to predict how long someone might need to have counselling for. We offer open-ended counselling with no fixed number of sessions, but regular reviews with clients to make sure things are working. Some clients also choose to take a break from counselling and then come back later, or return to work on different issues. This will always be something which our counsellors will be happy to talk with you about. Will counselling be confidential? Confidentiality is essential in counselling, it's one of the strongest ways of building a trusting and supportive relationship. Nearly everything you talk to your counsellor about will be just between you and them. But it's not absolute. There are times when your counsellor may need to break confidentiality, which they will contract with you in the first session. Most of these situations are about keeping you or someone else safe – especially anyone under 18 – but there are a few rare situations where it is against the law not to pass information on, for example: terrorism or organised crime. The only other person your counsellor will talk to about your work together is their supervisor. Their role is to keep the work safe and to help your counsellor be effective and helpful. Our supervisors don't have access to any personal information about clients, and any conversations about counselling are kept confidential by the supervisor too.

Couples Therapy

Relationships shape so much of our lives, intimate partnerships, family bonds, and friendships alike. Yet even the strongest connections can encounter periods of strain, miscommunication, or transition. Our person-centred counselling for couples offers a refined, supportive environment where each individual is given the space to feel genuinely heard, respected, and understood.

Within our sessions, we place thoughtful emphasis on communication as the cornerstone of a healthy and enduring relationship. Together, we explore how to articulate thoughts and emotions with clarity, honesty, and consideration. This includes developing alignment between your words, tone, and non-verbal cues, ensuring your message is conveyed with authenticity and received with understanding, strengthening trust and emotional connection.

Whether you are working through conflict, rediscovering closeness, or seeking to deepen an already meaningful bond, we provide a calm and professional setting to support that journey. Through a person-centred approach, we cultivate an atmosphere where open, sincere dialogue can flourish, allowing your relationship to evolve with insight, compassion, and shared respect.

Testimonials

Some kind words from previous clients

The search for finding a good therapist in Britain can be tough; I myself had a couple of false starts before I booked an appointment with Aimee at Thought. I've never looked back since. My therapy sessions are incredibly grounding no matter if we're breaking down complex past experiences or just talking about a difficult week. I always leave my session feeling lighter and more focused than I did before. I find Aimee's style of therapy to be incredibly helpful in both reassuring me that I'm on the right track, whilst also working with me to ensure I'm living the life that I want to live. I always feel listened to, appreciated and made to feel like all my thoughts have value. I'm very lucky to be working with Aimee, and have felt a lot more comfortable in my own skin since I started this therapy.

From our first week Aimee approached our sessions with an accepting and warm demeanour, which means that throughout the last 3 years I have been able to work through significant life events with the knowledge that the environment is safe, trustworthy and judgement-free. Aimee is kind, welcoming and flexible, and the Thought counselling room is private and secure. Aimee will make sure you feel comfortable and is one of those people that you find yourself relaxed and at ease around. I could not adequately describe the impact that Thought has had on my life, it has been nothing short of incredible, and I would truly recommend their services to anyone seeking support.

I am delighted to share my experience with Aimee at Thought Therapy, and words can hardly express how grateful I am to have found her. Before meeting Aimee, I had tried several counsellors, but the connection was never right. I didn't feel at ease speaking with them, and it seemed they lacked genuine interest in helping me. Like many, I have a troubled past and often face difficulties in the present. However, since I found Aimee, I've been able to discuss issues that have been deeply troubling me for many years, ones that held me back. I've grown more comfortable in my own mind since beginning my sessions with her, and I feel that my time with her has been incredibly beneficial on many levels. If you're reading this, I strongly encourage you to book an appointment and experience for yourself just how valuable counselling with the right person can be.
